How do I adress a Korean?

If you are meeting a new friend almost your age, you always start with name + 씨 (ssi). Then you go on with asking the year they are born. If they are older, not born the same year :-

If you are a guy, call an older guy 형 (hyeong) and an older sister 누나 (nuna).

If you are a girl, call the older guy 오빠 (oppa) and an older girl 언니 (eonni).

For people born the same year, you may call each other by names.

For anyone younger than you, call them by name. You may call a kid 꼬마 (ggoma) if you do not know their name.

To call a stranger on the street, waiter or waitress, you may use 저기요(chogiyo) which means hey. How ever do not sound to harsh ;)

To adress a friend's parents, you may call their father 아버지(aboji) 아버님 (abonim) or even 아저씨 (ajoshi) and call their mother 어머니(omoni) 어머님(omonim) 아줌마(ajumma).

* I always call a lady, say 15 years elder than me 이모 (imo) this will make them happier ^^
